Return to Sand Lake Chalet

The Chalet has 3 bedrooms.  The Master Bedroom (upstairs) has a California King bed, dresser, bureau, and recliner.  There is a phone in the Master Bedroom.  A sliding glass patio door and small deck provide glimpses of Sand Lake Estuary and sounds of the ocean surf mixed with rustling alders.

Another upstairs bedroom has a double bed and two single beds.  A large picture window offers a tranquil, sylvan view of alders, firs, ferns, and hemlocks on the hillside behind the cabin.  This is a great room for reading or just relaxing and taking in the forest.

A bathroom with a shower is located between the two bedrooms.

The downstairs bedroom has a double bed, 2 nightstands, a chair and a small closet.

A small TV room has a large window looking out on the deck and gazebo and has a loveseat that makes out into a ¾ bed which can sleep two if necessary.  There’s a TV and VCR and DVD for playing movies.  Some movies are available at the cabin or you can rent them in Pacific City.

A downstairs bathroom has a combination shower/tub.

The living room is warm and cozy with a lovely woodstove to cheer those wonderful stormy, rainy days or to take the chill off the cold, clear nights.  The woodstove can be used either as a stove for heat or has a screen so the doors can be left open (while your in attendance) and is essentially a fireplace.  There’s a stereo and a small collection of CD’s and tapes.  Large picture windows offer views of the estuary to the west.

The kitchen adjoins the living room and comes fully equipped with most everything you’d need to prepare that gourmet meal.  There’s a stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee pot, microwave, pots and pans, silverware, plates, glasses, and cups.  There are the usual condiments in the fridge and cupboards.  You may use them but we ask that you leave some of yours for the next person.  There is also a phone in the kitchen for local calls.  There is no cell phone service at the cabin.

The cabin has a lighted gazebo for barbecuing or just sitting around enjoying the mild evenings.  There are deck chairs and a Weber barbecue on the gazebo (bring your own briquettes and lighter fluid please if you plan to barbecue).  We like to have “Happy Hour” on the deck while we barbecue some fresh oysters or salmon, or cook up the days crab catch.

The basement has a single garage with a small shop, washer and dryer.  You will need the washer and dryer if you choose to use the linens provided.  Some bring their own sleeping bags, pillows, and towels to avoid having to do a wash replace the linens.
