Dear Friends,

We have a place at the Oregon coast which we think is very special -- a homey cedar chalet in the heart of some of the best recreational area on the coast. We make it selectively available to our friends and acquaintances (only) for weekend and vacation rental throughout the year.

The chalet -- about half way between Tillamook and Lincoln City -- is nestled on a private site among alders and hemlocks just across the road from Sand Lake Estuary and borders the Siusla National Forest in back.  There is just about every kind of recreational activity you could want within minutes -- walking on the beach, whale watching, fishing for salmon, steelhead or trout, crabbing, clamming, birding, hang-gliding, hiking, mushrooming, and canoeing.  And after a day of adventure, you can return to the quiet, comfort of the private chalet and the warmth of of a crackling fire.

The chalet is perfect for a weekend escape for two -- relax by the woodstove and read, or enjoy a romantic sunset dinner on the covered gazebo featuring glimpses of the estuary across the way.  There is a stereo if you want to listen to music, and a VCR/DVD -- so bring your favorite CD’s, DVD's, or video tapes.

Or the Chalet is large enough to accommodate the whole family or friends.  The master bedroom has a California King bed.  The other upstairs bedroom has a double and two single beds.  And the downstairs bedroom has a double bed.  There are also hide-a-beds in both the living room and TV room, two full baths, and a complete kitchen.  A barbecue is available to grill your “catch,” and usually there are clam shovels, buckets, and a couple of fishing rods in the garage.  Or if you'd like dinner out, be sure to go to the River House in Pacific City.  We highly recommend it and it's Wonderful!

Where to go for outdoor adventure?  If you’re a canoe or kayak enthusiast, you can paddle the estuary’s shallow waters observing birds, fish, and other wildlife -- or paddle over to the State Park located on the spit between the estuary and the Pacific Ocean.  A few minutes to the north is Cape Lookout and Netarts Bay--great for crabs and clams.  A few miles south is Cape Kiwanda, where you can climb impressive dunes, explore tide pools, or try hang-gliding.  Stroll through Bob Straub State Park near the Cape.  Chinook salmon fishing is outstanding in the nearby Nestucca River and Bay; steelhead fishing is excellent in the river.  Five other notable steelhead and salmon rivers may be found within a 45 minute drive from the chalet  New to crabbing, fishing, or the area?  The chalet has all kinds of “how to” materials, maps, techniques, and instructions.  Or ask John for some tips when you book your reservation.

To keep the experience pleasant and worry-free for you and future guests, we ask that you or your guests not smoke inside the chalet -- and, pets, by permission only, please.
