Civic Duty at B-72. Sometimes good deeds pay off. John and I, separately, donated our guiding services for civic fundraisers. I volunteered a trip to my kids schools fundraiser and John donated a trip to the Oregon Mediation Society. The school received $300 for my services and the Mediation Society received $1.75 for Johns. Though, we all know his services are worth at least three times that sum. The wind and showers did not deter our efforts today at 72. John got to the spot an hour or so before I did. I blame Steve Childress for this [I bought Steves old boat and he was too cheap in the late 80s to buy a motor that matched the boats needs] Nonetheless, I managed to squeeze the first two fish from the spot while John got board and headed downstream - without his radio on. By the time he returned, two shiny 18 pounders were chilling in the wet well of my slow boat. About that time the tide went low slack, the hog line broke up and the parade of trolling began. Between 10-1 John and I combined for 5 pull downs and John landed two average sized fish. One was sent chillin and one was released to run the pinniped and dam gauntlet. My three pull downs resulted in no further fish landed. One was lost near net and the other two were awesome hit-n-runs. Of our 5 pull downs, 3 were on prawns and one each on a Palensky special and one on a cut plug. I suspect all two of Johns pull downs were on his specials. My group satisfied with our effort and result headed for the barn at 1:30 leaving John to catch 9 more for his boats limit. What a day!
